On Sunday my host family took me to Lake Eibsee.

This lake sits at the foot of the Zugspitze- Germany’s highest mountain,
and has a surface elevation of almost 1000m.

The drive there and the lake itself gave me a taste of Bavaria,
made me want more,
and reminded me why I chose this area as my home for the next year…

Snow covered mountains,
lush, green forests,
and crystal clear lakes-
(at least the part that isn’t covered in snow).

I can’t wait to return in the summer time-
apparently the water is bright turquoise.

Omigosh! I've been here!! 🙂 Seriously, you have me so Germany-sick. We went there in October'ish and I have pics of it where the water looks like a crystal clear mirror. It's amazing. These pics you took are incredible.

You LIVE here you lucky lady!

Make sure you take the cable car up to the top of the Zugspitze this summer – it's absolutely incredible.

Also, so far: your au pair family > my au pair family by about 1000%. Again, lucky lady 🙂

Looks dreamy! I have not spent any real time in Germany (just one night in a hotel as I awaited my connecting flight out the next day). But I really want to!
