On Saturday I went to Munich for the day.
I decided that before I go on any extended trip,
it would be wise to learn the train station and see what it’s all about.
In other words-
baby steps.
I arrived in Munich at 9am.
I had no map,
no travel book,
nothing.
All I knew was that I was at the central train station for the Bavarian capital.
So, first things first,
buy a Germany travel book in English.
Why I did not do this before I got to Germany is a mystery.
I asked how to get to Marienplatz- the old town square,
and, to my relief, it was just an easy 15 minute walk.
In case you didn’t know,
I don’t understand subways and big cities scare me.
Put me in a foreign country where the main language isn’t English and it’s guaranteed that I will get lost,
almost instantly.
Thankfully, that was not the case today.
I found where I wanted to go,
and didn’t get lost once.
I did not wander far from the Old Square.
I live so close to Munich,
and so I decided to save other sights for a different day.
I enjoyed sights of the Neues Rathaus,
joined the crowd at noon to watch the Glockenspiel,
and climbed to the top of St. Peterskirche for stunning views of Munich.
I am so thankful that this city is only an hour train ride from the little village I call home.
Love your photos- beautiful! I've totally been to that square- the clock tower with the little people statues in it! 🙂 My friends and I sat and ate pretzels and people-watched- it was so fun! 🙂
best. city. ever.
best. city. ever.

Love the photos!!! So beautiful xoxo
wow! this looks so nice! i love the panorama shot. do you work that allows you to travel so extensively?
All of your pictures are amazing! Hope you're having a great time so far!
The Glockenspeil – cool to see for the first 30 seconds… then not so much. I enjoyed watching the people FLOCK to it when it started. We also climbed up to the top of the St. Peterskirche. Definitely worth the view! Next time – go find the English Garden and spend the day there. Did you know that people surf in that park? Right in the midst of town?! 🙂
I would say "good job" but don't want to sound degrading! But that is so so great that you didn't get lost and you found your way so well hon…
INcredible PHOTOS!!!
