This Papaya Bowl is a delicious way to enjoy fresh fruit first thing in the morning. Eat your breakfast from a fresh papaya boat, with a delicious layer of granola and yogurt and your choice of chopped fruit, seeds, and nuts.

Papaya Bowl with half cut papaya

There’s nothing like a perfectly ripe papaya (you’ll know when a papaya is ripe by the strong sweet smell!). Don’t be deceived by the drab-looking outside – this tropical fruit looks and tastes like a sunset on the inside! These papaya breakfast bowls are so easy to throw together and way more exciting than your typical smoothie bowls or granola parfaits. Just scoop out the middle of the papaya and add your favorite toppings!

How to Make a Papaya Bowl

First, prepare the papaya. Cut the whole fruit lengthwise with a large knife and scoop out the seeds with a spoon. Then, simply add your desired toppings to the middle of the “bowl” you’ve created. Topping may include yogurt, granola, chia seeds, chopped nuts, and any chopped fresh fruit you desire. It’s that easy!

How to Serve

You can serve this papaya bowl immediately. Make the other half of the papaya into a bowl as well, or chop it into cubes to enjoy in the bowl or on the side. Try it with whatever toppings you desire (any chopped fruit goes, and you can try it with different seeds, nuts, and granola as well). Coconut flakes will help bring out the tropical flavors, and even a drizzle of honey, a splash of lime juice, or a scoop of peanut butter or almond butter can be fun additions. It’s the perfect quick healthy breakfast or snack, and it will make you feel like you’re on a tropical vacation with minimal effort!

Storage and Freezing

I recommend storing these papaya bowls deconstructed. In an airtight container sealed well, the pre-made papaya bowls should last 2-3 days. Papaya can also be frozen for up to three months. This means you can meal prep the bowls in advance, freeze and thaw them, and add toppings to make this quick recipe even quicker!
